Summer Events in Addison, TX

Addison, Texas, is only about 20 minutes from Dallas. The area has many fun summer events, good food, and great music. Here are some of the events in the region that you can attend during the summer of 2023.

Addison After Dark

Addison After Dark is a series of free events, and on Aug. 19 it's time for Pints & Pups. You can bring your pets to soak up the atmosphere while you enjoy beer, wine, or other beverages. Free samples from local breweries will be available while supplies last. You can pack your own meal or order from one of the many food trucks on-site.

There will also be a pet photo booth, an opportunity for your dog to create paw print art, a pop-up dog park, and a pet adoption stand. For musical entertainment, performers will include Extended PLAY, The Fur-Tastic K9s, and Marissa Chibli.

Location: The Ellipse Stage at Addison Circle Park, 4970 Addison Circle, Addison.

Hours: Aug. 19 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Vitruvian Salsa Festival

The Vitruvian Salsa Festival has live bands, DJs, free salsa lessons, and food trucks. The salsa lessons are hosted by SD Dance Studios and Luis Delgadillo from SalsaDallas.com. People with all skill levels are welcome. Admission is free, but there's a $10 fee for parking.

Location: Vitruvian Park, 3966 Vitruvian Way, Addison.

Hours: The Vitruvian Salsa Festival is open every Saturday in August from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The salsa lessons start at 6:30 p.m. and usually last about half an hour.

Addison Kaboom Town!

summer events in addison, txSince 1985, Addison has hosted Kaboom Town!, one of the most stunning and original Independence Day celebrations in the United States. Every year, about 500,000 people from across the country watch Kaboom Town! It starts at the Addison airport with an air show that uses historic planes from the Cavanaugh Flight Museum. Then, there's a spectacular fireworks display that you can watch from Addison Circle Park, a hotel balcony, or a nearby restaurant. Admission and parking are free, and plenty of food and beverage options will be available. No pets are allowed.

Location: Addison Circle Park, 4970 Addison Circle, Addison

Hours: Monday, July 3, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. The air show starts at 7:30 p.m., and the fireworks show is at 9:30 p.m.

The Dallas Colombian Festival

The Dallas Colombian Festival is on July 22, which is close to Colombian Independence Day on July 20. It gives the area's growing community of Colombians and other Latin Americans a chance to enjoy a day of culture, food, entertainment, and shopping. This festival has live music and dancing performances for you to enjoy. It's a collaborative event, with Uptown Latino, the Representa Foundation, and the City of Addison sponsoring the day.

Location: Addison Circle Park, 4970 Addison Circle, Addison.

Hours: Saturday, July 22 at 4 p.m.

The Irving Brunch Festival

The Irving Brunch Festival is in Irving, about 20 minutes from Addison, and it's worth the short trip. It has a live DJ and 10 different brunch food and drink booths. You can choose regular admission or get a sampling admission with three drink tickets and two food vouchers. You can enter from 3 p.m. with either of these options, but you can upgrade to the VIP sampling admission to get early access from noon and four drink tickets and three food vouchers. You can even go a step further and reserve a VIP table for 10 people.

If you come to the festival, you can enter a raffle to win a trip to Mexico, with the winner being announced during the event. There will also be a kids' zone, lawn games, and a beer garden. You're not allowed to bring in outside food and drink, but there will be food trucks on-site, and you can purchase additional drink vouchers for $3 each.

Location: Toyota Music Factory, 316 W. Las Colinas Blvd., Irving.

Hours: Saturday, July 26, from noon to 6 p.m.

Addison Oktoberfest

Addison Oktoberfest is this city's version of the famous German festival, and it's been an annual tradition for more than 35 years. It starts with the official Tapping of the Keg by the mayor, and you can have fun folk dancing, eating schnitzel, and drinking beer. You can also participate in a German spelling bee or try Bier Barrel Rolling. Polka bands and other traditional entertainers will perform on multiple stages. Visitors can compete in dachshund races, stage contests, and other games. You can also join in the fun and wear lederhosen or other traditional clothing. 

The Partyhalle hosts a Masskrugstemmen or stein hoisting challenge in a tent with more than 1,000 seats, a dance floor, and an elevated stage. The Draught Haus Biergarten is set up so you can watch the big football games on open-air screens while you have some beer and brats.

The Musikzelt, or outdoor music stage, will offer entertaining performances, games, and activities. The Kleinhalle is a relaxing, air-conditioned indoor entertainment venue in the Addison Conference Center, where visitors can hang out and enjoy live entertainment. At the Paulaner Biergarten, you can sit at large tables with umbrellas while you watch people compete in a variety of bier games, including Bier Barrel Rolling and Bier Maiden Stein Carrying. Kids aged 12 or below can compete in the Kinderzelt, a series of fun children's games. They can also create crafts and get complimentary airbrush tattoos.

Location: Addison Circle Park, 4970 Addison Circle, Addison. The entrance is at the corner of Quorum Drive and Addison Circle.

Hours: Thursday, Sept. 14, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, from 6 p.m. to midnight. Saturday, Sept. 16, from noon to midnight. Sunday, Sept. 17, from noon to 6 p.m.
